Quick Navigation

Introduction

VeriEscrow is a non-custodial escrow platform that enables secure cryptocurrency transactions between parties using smart contracts. Unlike traditional escrow services, VeriEscrow never holds your funds—they are secured entirely by audited smart contracts on the blockchain.

What is Non-Custodial?

Non-custodial means we never have access to, control over, or custody of your digital assets. Your funds are held exclusively by smart contracts that execute automatically based on predefined conditions. You maintain full control of your private keys at all times.

Quick Start Guide

Get started with VeriEscrow in just 5 minutes. This guide will walk you through creating your first escrow.

Prerequisites

  • A Web3 wallet (MetaMask, Rainbow, Coinbase Wallet, etc.)
  • Some cryptocurrency for the escrow amount and gas fees
  • The wallet address of the other party

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Connect Your Wallet

Click the 'Connect Wallet' button in the top right corner. Select your preferred wallet provider and approve the connection. VeriEscrow supports all major Web3 wallets through RainbowKit.

2

Navigate to Dashboard

Once connected, click 'Dashboard' to access the escrow management interface. Here you can create new escrows, view active ones, and manage disputes.

3

Create New Escrow

Click 'Create Escrow' and fill in the details: receiver's wallet address, amount, conditions for release, and optional deadline. Review the transaction details carefully.

4

Fund the Escrow

Confirm the transaction in your wallet. The funds will be transferred to the smart contract (not to VeriEscrow). Gas fees apply.

5

Share with Counterparty

Share the escrow ID or link with the other party. They can view the escrow details and conditions on the blockchain.

6

Release or Dispute

When conditions are met, release the funds to the receiver. If there's a disagreement, either party can initiate a dispute for arbiter resolution.

Next Steps

Now that you've created your first escrow, explore advanced features like milestone payments, multi-party escrows, and custom arbiters.

Wallet Setup

VeriEscrow works with any EVM-compatible Web3 wallet. Here's how to set up and connect your wallet.

Supported Wallets

MetaMask

The most popular browser extension wallet. Available for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge.

Connect any mobile wallet by scanning a QR code.

Ledger

Hardware wallet for maximum security. Connect via MetaMask or WalletConnect.

Connecting Your Wallet

  1. 1Click the 'Connect Wallet' button in the header
  2. 2Select your wallet provider from the list
  3. 3Approve the connection request in your wallet
  4. 4Select the correct network (Polygon recommended for lower fees)

Supported Networks

VeriEscrow is deployed on multiple networks. Choose based on your needs:

NetworkDescriptionChain ID
PolygonRecommended for most users. Low gas fees (~$0.01) and fast transactions.137
Ethereum MainnetFor high-value transactions requiring maximum security. Higher gas fees.1
Arbitrum OneEthereum L2 with low fees and high security. Great for DeFi users.42161
OptimismFast and cheap Ethereum L2 with growing ecosystem.10

Security Best Practices

  • Never share your private keys or seed phrase with anyone
  • Use a hardware wallet for high-value transactions
  • Always verify the contract address before signing transactions
  • Enable 2FA on your wallet provider account
  • Keep your wallet software updated
  • Be wary of phishing sites—bookmark the official VeriEscrow URL

Creating an Escrow

This guide covers all options when creating an escrow, from simple P2P transactions to complex multi-party agreements.

Basic Escrow

A basic escrow involves one payer, one receiver, and a simple condition for release. This is ideal for straightforward transactions.

receiverReceiver wallet address (0x...)
amountAmount to escrow (in selected token)
tokenToken type (ETH, USDC, USDT, DAI, or native token)
deadlineOptional expiry date (funds return to payer if not released)

Milestone Escrow

Break payments into milestones for projects with multiple deliverables. Each milestone can be released independently.

Example: A $10,000 web development project split into 4 milestones: Design ($2,500), Frontend ($3,000), Backend ($3,000), and Launch ($1,500).

Multi-Party Escrow

Support for multiple payers contributing to an escrow, or splitting funds among multiple receivers. Perfect for group purchases, partnerships, or crowdfunding.

  • Up to 10 parties (payers + receivers combined)
  • Custom split ratios for receivers
  • All parties can view escrow status

Fee Structure

VeriEscrow charges a small platform fee based on escrow value:

0 - $1,000: 1.5% fee
$1,001 - $25,000: 1.0% fee
$25,001 - $100,000: 0.75% fee
Over $100,000: 0.5% fee

Fees are collected at deposit time. Gas fees are paid separately to the network.

Escrow States

Understanding the different states an escrow can be in helps you manage transactions effectively.

Created

Escrow has been created but not yet funded. Waiting for payer to deposit funds.

Funded

Funds have been deposited to the smart contract. Waiting for conditions to be met.

Released

Funds have been released to the receiver. Transaction complete.

Refunded

Funds have been returned to the payer. May occur after expiry or dispute resolution.

Disputed

A dispute has been raised. Awaiting arbiter resolution.

Expired

Deadline passed without release. Payer can claim refund.

Disputes & Resolution

When parties disagree, VeriEscrow's decentralized arbitration system provides fair resolution.

Initiating a Dispute

Either the payer or receiver can raise a dispute while the escrow is in 'Funded' state. A dispute fee may apply to discourage frivolous claims.

  1. 1Navigate to the escrow detail page
  2. 2Click 'Raise Dispute'
  3. 3Describe the issue and provide evidence
  4. 4Pay the dispute fee (refunded if you win)
  5. 5Wait for the other party to respond

Providing Evidence

Strong evidence increases your chances of a favorable outcome. Include:

  • Screenshots of communications
  • Transaction hashes
  • Delivery confirmations
  • Contracts or written agreements
  • Photos or videos of goods

Timeline

Evidence submission: 72 hours
Arbiter review: 48 hours
Resolution execution: Immediate

Possible Outcomes

Payer Wins: Full refund to payer, dispute fee returned
Receiver Wins: Full release to receiver, dispute fee returned
Split Decision: Proportional distribution as determined by arbiter

Escrow Questions

How long do escrows last?

Escrows can have a deadline from 1 hour to 365 days. If no deadline is set, the escrow remains active until released, refunded, or disputed.

Core parameters (amount, parties) cannot be changed after creation. Conditions can be added (but not removed) with mutual consent.

Dispute Questions

How long does dispute resolution take?

Standard disputes are resolved within 5 days: 72 hours for evidence, 48 hours for arbiter review.

What if I disagree with the resolution?

You can request an appeal within 24 hours of the decision. Appeals go to a higher-tier arbiter panel.
